During the past couple of years I’ve had weddings that have been postponed twice. For those who have been unlucky with their wedding date and maybe wanted guests to be able to travel from afar this seemed the only option. Others came up with different solutions and might have scaled down on the number of guests or held an intimate ceremony and saved the party for later. There really has been no right way to go about things and couples have been faced with many hard decisions.
Erica and Joakim were one of those couples. No one could tell what restrictions they would be facing during their August wedding in 2021. They ended up celebrating their marriage on the wedding date they had decided on a year in advance and we were lucky to be able to gather under one roof to celebrate with them.
If anything, the pandemic gave a new perspective and it seemed easier to remember what the wedding is really about. Not chasing perfection, having to control every little detail, but instead enjoy a day together with those who matter most.
The weather was pretty chilly and it was raining on and off during the day, but really no one seemed to mind. People took precautions to be able to gather for the ceremony in the church and once at the reception there was a relief of just having arrived. Using lots of hand sanitizer is a small price to pay considering.
Running right from the hot tub into the sea seemed a fitting end to a long awaited day.
Thank you Erica & Joakim for letting me take part of it all.
