Scottish wedding on the Finnish Countryside
Skotskt bröllop i Finland
“The swallows only honor the homes of those who are happy.” A fitting quote from Tove Jansson’s Sommarboken. The sound of swallows flying high up in the ceiling of the old barn is an image that has stayed with me since that day in the middle of July. Accompanied by that sound Jenny and Richard celebrated their union, a union not only of two people but of two homes. Who knew Ostrobothnian and Scottish traditions go so well together.
Bagpipes and kilts, traditional Ostrobothnian folk costumes and an old farmhouse. Family and friends dancing ceilidh to the tones of an amazing three man band flown in from England just for the occasion. Jenny and Richard’s day was so festive and took place in the most picturesque setting on the most idyllic of Finnish summer days.
